The Office on the Status of Women (OSW) in conjunction with the Unit for Policy Studies at the University of Pretoria will host a Gender Lecture entitled "Translating Policy into Practice".
This will take place on Thursday 22 March 2001 at the University of Pretoria's main campus in the Senate Hall. Time is 13h30. This lecture celebrates Cabinet's approval of South Africa's National Policy for Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality. The lecture initiates a process of informing South Africans about the policy framework and engaging them in issues pertaining to the translation of policy into practice.
The lecture also marks the beginning of an active process by the OSW of forging partnerships between the Presidency and civil society with regard to gender.
Speakers include Minister in The Presidency Dr Essop Pahad, Mr Theo Bekker from University of Pretoria and Prof. Clement Keto Vice Chancellor of Vista University. Dr Thandiwe Sidzumo-Mazibuko, CEO of Development Foundation and Dr Ellen Kornegay from The Presidency.
