MINISTER MADUNA MET REPRESENTATIVES FROM NADEL

Justice and Constitutional Development Minister, Dr Penuell Maduna, today met with the representatives from the National Democratic Lawyers Association (NADEL) led by Mr Silas Nkanunu and the National Secretary, Mr Vincent Saldanha and the Law Society of South Africa, led by Mr Jacke Moloi.

The purpose of the meeting which took place in the Minister's office in Pretoria, was in furtherance to the discussions around a much talked about 'Draft Legal Practice Bill'. The meeting took place in a positive spirit and both parties expressed a desire for speedy resolution of all the differences to the Bill and also to have it in place soonest.

The delegates have as a result, agreed with the Minister of Justice that a one day seminar be held which will bring together all the role players so as to finalise the Bill and to have it placed before Parliament possibly befor the end of the year. The Director-General of Justice and Constitutional Development, Adv Vusi Pikoli was charged with the responsibility of arranging such a seminar which will take place in the next few weeks.
