Justice and Constitutional Development Minister, Dr Penuell Maduna, welcome the sentences imposed today on the 10 men found guilty for the 17-million Bronkhorstspruit heist.
The Minister described the case and the sentences imposed, as Indicative of the improvement in the functioning of the criminal justice system in the country.
As part of government's commitment not only to arresting and prosecuting perpetrators of crime, the Minister said he will in addition, urge the Asset Forfeiture Unit to speedily seize the proceeds of crime from the perpetrators. He emphasised that government will continue with its fight against organised crime and that criminals will not benefit from criminality.
The Minister congratulate the Police and the prosecuting authority in the case, for the job well done. He furthermore, wish to express his sympathy to the families of the deceased who died during the robbery.
