The Statement by the MEC for Education On the Auditors Report for the year ended 31 March 1998
The MEC for Education, Ignatius Jacobs welcomes the report of the Auditor General for the year ending 31 March 1998. It should be noted that this is a report prior the MEC being elected in office.
The MEC took office in June 1999. However, the MEC has instructed the GDE to prepare a substantive report on the Auditor's remarks. This report will also include recommendations on how to tackle the issues and shortcomings raised in the report.
The MEC will not hesitate to act on any wrong-doing as a result of the report by the Auditor General.
