Repors from South African mission in Belgium indicate that there been an attempted coup on Democratic Republic Congo of Laurent Kabila's government on Tuesday.
The report further indicated that the DR Congo military had been on national television confirming the attempted coup. The current situation was that road blocks had been set up, a curfew ordered and public directed to stay in doors in the capital city Kinshasa.
The department of Foreign Affairs is at this stage unable to confirm or deny reports that either Kabila or his son were fatally wounded in the process.
The department will continue to monitor the situation very closely
