Pretoria, December 22, 2000 - On the return of the Minister of Communications to South Africa this week, the matter of the dispute between COSATU and Telkom was brought to her attention. She was fully briefed on the matter yesterday.
It is unfortunate that this matter has arisen, and the Minister has taken note of the issues raised by COSATU and understands their position.
It has been agreed that an urgent meeting will take place shortly to fully discuss this matter and the Minister is hopeful that this will create the opportunity to engage all parties and find an early resolution.
