NEW SA POST OFFICE BOARD MEMBERS NAMED

Pretoria, 15 December, 2000 - Government has approved the appointment of four new members to the SA Post Office board, and the appointment of an existing member of the board as the new chairperson.

The five new board members are: Mr Carl Niehaus, Ms Phuti Tsukudu, Mr Samuel Moeti, Ms Poppie Baloyi and Mr Vusi Khumalo. The new chairperson is Ms Badirileng Mokone. The re-appointment of Mr Karl von Holdt and Mr Mushtaq Brey has also been approved.

Ms Mokone is a trustee of the Mocromo Consulting Trust and specialises in IT services. She has been a member of the SA Post Office board since January 2000. Mr Niehaus was an MP from 1994 to 1996, and served as Ambassador to the Netherlands from 1997 to May 2000. He has served as executive director of NICRO since his return from the Netherlands, and most recently resigned to become a full-time director fo the consulting firm Deloitte & Touche.

Ms Tsukudu is presently director of Tsukudu Associates. She has a Masters Degree in Education Management and works extensively in the areas of human resources management and development, organizational development and transformation, and project management and community development.

Mr Moeti is the past chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Communications. He has a BA (Hons) specialising in Anthropology and a BA (Unisa) with majors in Anthropology and Development in Administration and Politics. He is presently studying for a Masters degree in international Communication.

Ms Baloyi is presently the General Manager: Marketing Support at Denel.

She has a BA (Honours) in Social Work and Community Development. Mr Khumalo was selected by the Communications Workers Union as the union representative to the SA Post Office Board.
