The South African Foreign Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and her Beninois counterpart, Foreign Minister Kolawole A. Idji, and their respective delegations held constructive and fruitful discussions in Cotonou on 7th December concerning the further development and intensification of excellent bilateral relations.
The bilateral consultations addressed a wide range of matters of mutual interest which included commercial co-operation, tourism, investments and cultural exchanges.
The two sides noted, regarding the legal framework of their bilateral co-operation, besides existing Agreements on Visas and Air Transport, that Economic and Commercial Agreements are being processed at present.
It was thus proposed that two other Agreements should be considered to further develop cultural relations and the co-operation between Foreign Ministries of both countries. The two Sides noted with satisfaction, the increasing development of trade and economic relations and that it was important to increase co-operation between the private sectors of the two countries.
It was agreed that the bilateral discussions were most constructive and would contribute to an intensification of co-operation between the two countries in the future.
