THE DEATH OF MRS KATE ZUMA

Issued by: Department of Foreign Affairs

8 December 2000

The Ministry and Department of Foreign Affairs have learnt with shock and sadness of the untimely death of Mrs Kate Zuma, wife of Deputy President Jacob Zuma, who passed away after a heart failure in Pretoria today, Friday 8 December 2000.

During these trying moments our thoughts reach out to the Deputy President, his children and family members. We can only imagine the pain, suffering and trauma that the death of his beloved wife would have caused on the entire family.

Yet Deputy President Zuma can contend himself in the full knowledge of the support of the Ministry, department and all our missions abroad. Both the Ministry and Department express their heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Deputy President, the children, family members, friends and colleagues.
