HIV/AIDS PROGRAMME FOR 2001 - NATIONAL BARGAINING COUNCIL AND ROAD FREIGHT ASSOCIATION

Minister of Transport, Abdulah Omar receives a memorandum from National Bargaining Council and the Road Freight Association of the industry's HIV/AIDS programme for 2001.

The Minister of Transport, Abdulah Omar on 30 November 2000 will receive a memorandum from the National Bargaining Council and the Road Freight Association. The memorandum will

outline the industry
• s programme for the year 2001, to fight the killer disease, HIV/AIDS.

The memorandum is part of activities to support the existing "Trucking Against AIDS project" which is to tie with the annual "World AIDS Day" activities, scheduled for the 1st of December 2000.

The focus will be on the industry's activities to fight HIV/AIDS epidemic, during the year 2001, to ensure that their workforce

remains healthy. So that South Africa
• s freight operators are able to perform their duties, to the best of their ability and also contribute to regional development.
