MINISTER OF TRANSPORT, DULLAH OMAR, ON THE DEATH OF PRESIDENTIAL SPOKESPERSON PARKS MANKAHLANA

The Minister of Transport, Dullah Omar expressed his sadness at the death of Mr Parks Mankahlana, the Presidential spokesperson. "The news of Parks Mankahlana's death has been received with a real sense of sadness amongst us all in the Department of Transport. Undoubtedly, he will be remembered for his contribution and commitment to our government and to the transformation of our communications systems", said Omar.

Minister Omar said that as a Presidential Aide for both Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, it can be said that Parks stood for freedom of the press and other media; freedom to receive or impart information or ideas; freedom of artistic creativity which are all enshrined in our Constitution.

"Our condolences are with his wife, Nthabiseng, and his whole family, relatives and friends. Robala ka Khotso Comrade Parks", Omar said.
