Pretoria: Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi has warmly welcomed the appointment of the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), Mr Colin Van Schalkwyk. The new CEO’s appointment was approved by Cabinet yesterday (25 October 2000).
Minister Fraser-Moleketi anticipates a fruitful working relationship with Mr Van Schalkwyk who brings considerable influence and experience to the post of the CEO. Mr van Schalkwyk is a former teacher, administrator and consultant. Most recently he served as senior business development manager at Cisco Systems Inc. Mr van Schalkwyk has a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois in the United States (1996).
Mr Van Schalkwyk’s appointment was made public at a SITA gala event, whereby SITA was launching its new corporate identity at Vodaworld in Midrand, on 26 October 00.

PROFILE of SITA NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER:
Mr Colin van Schalkwyk
Mr. Van Schalkwyk was born on the 4th of December 1965 and most recently was the Business Development Manager of Cisco Systems Inc.
Among his achievements, Mr van Schalkwyk is the former Executive Consultant for Sole Proprietor: Telecoms Consultancy. He also worked as a Senior Manager and the Head of Special Projects for the Department of Communications. In the mid-80s, he was a teache r and administrator in the Western Cape Provincial Administration.
He has written widely in areas of Policy Economics and Information Communications Systems, and is currently doing a research towards a Doctoral Degree.
He holds a Masters Degree in Policy Economics from the University of Illinois, US (1996). He is also a graduate from the University of Western Cape with a BA Hons degree in Economics (1995).
