The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Botswana, Lt-Gen Mompati Merafhe asrrived this afternoon in South Africa for an official visit as the guest of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma from 24-27 October 2000. During the visit, which serves to strengthen the already excellent relations between the two countries, the Ministers' will hold bilateral discussions on a wide range of bilateral, regional, continental and global issues.
A Declaration of Intent for an Agreement on the Establishment of a Political Consultation Mechanism between the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Botswana will be signed by the two Ministers.
Botswana is one of the most politically and economically stable countries in the region and in Africa and both the SADC Headquarters and the African Renaissance Institute are situated in Gaborone.
