The Minister of Public Service and Administration, Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi was appointed to the board of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) at a pre-conference meeting held in Somerset West in the Western Cape.
The appointment comes at the start of a three - day CAPAM Biennial Conference with the theme: "Globalisation, Governance and the Public Service." Delegates from around the world have gathered to discuss: Values and Ethics and the Battle Against Corruption, Serving in the Knowledge Age and Public Sector Leadership in the 21st Century .
Other appointees to the board include the Public Service Commissioner of Australia, Helen Williams, the Chief Secretary of Malaysia, Tan Sri Abdul Halim Bin Ali, and the Head of the Civil Service and Permanent Secretary in Uganda, Mrs. Florence Mugasha.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Mr Winston Cox has been co-opted as an ex officio board member. Other ex officio members include: Mr Peter Harder, Deputy Minister of Industry in Canada; Honourable Tony Aidoo, Deputy Minister of Defence in Ghana; Mr Joseph Grima, Head of the Public Service in Malta and Gafa Loelu Elisaia, Minister of Public Service in Samoa.
Minister Fraser-Moleketi will deliver a speech on Public Sector Leadership in the 21st Century on Wednesday the 18th of October.
