The Acting Director General in the Office of the Premier, Neeshan Balton announces the appointment of Annette Griesel as head of the Gauteng Provincial Government's Communications Unit.
The Communications Unit was one of several new structures created after the restructuring process that was initiated by Premier Mbhazima Shilowa when he took office. Shilowa announced in May that the Government Communications Unit was created to give meaning to his and the Provincial Government's commitment to communicate effectively with the people of Gauteng and create possibilities for them to interact on an ongoing basis with their government.
As head of the Communications Unit, Ms Griesel will be responsible for formulating and implementing an integrated communications strategy for the entire provincial government. She will also co-ordinate all Provincial Government's communications with the aim of ensuring maximum effectiveness. Ms Griesel started her new job on Monday 17 July 2000. Before joining the Gauteng Provincial Government she worked in the Department of Labour as the Director of Communications.
