The Finance Ministry is to extend the deadline for comments on new tender regulations intended to boost businesses owned and run by black people and women. The regulations, published in terms of the Presidential Procurement Policy Framework Act (No. 5 of 2000), were published in the national and provincial Government Gazette for comment on June 5. The Act gives effect to the Constitutional requirement that state procurement policy provided to categories of preference for those who have been subjected to unfair discrimination in the past.
The deadline for comments has been extended from June 30, 2000 to July 31, 2000.
