The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma successfully concluded her two-day working visit to Algeria today, on the 22nd of June, after having met and held Bi-lateral discussions with her counter-part, Mr Youcef Yousfi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, the Chief of Government (Prime Minister) of Algeria, Mr Ahmed Ben Bitour and other government officials on the proposed Bi-National Commission between South Africa and Algeria.
Minister Dlamini-Zuma also held discussions with President Abdel Azziz Bouteflika, the President of the Peoples Democratic Republic of Algeria. Among other issues of mutual interest and common concern which were raised were : the ending of conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia, conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the question of Western Sahara, the Pan-African Parliament and the African Union and the G8 Summit to be held in Japan.
From Algiers, Minister Dlamini-Zuma will be proceeding to an International Conference on the Community of Democracies which will be held in Warsaw, Poland from the 26th to 27th of June 2000. The conference will be hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Mr Bronislaw Greek.
