"Discipline in Schools" will be the topic of discussion of the second Online Internet Chatline Series with Education Minister Kader Asmal at the Ministry of Education offices, 120 Plein street, Cape Town on June 6 (Tuesday)tomorrow at 12h35.
Professor Asmal intends to discuss the issue of school discipline and to close the gap between him and teachers by giving them an opportunity to interact with him directly. He believes direct interaction with him and using the available technology, could increase professionalism and boost the morale of teachers in South Africa.
The chatline will be accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, and operates through standard web browsers such as Internet Explorer or Netscape. The Department of Education with SchoolNet SA chose Mweb as a technology partner for the service because of its expertise in building online communities. This has set the tone and teachers can expect extensive coverage on all fundamental issues impacting on education for the rest of the year. Minister Kader Asmal will be appearing live on a regular basis, and other key education figures will be invited to follow suit.
To participate, visit the MWeb's Education News at: http://www.mweb.co.za/learning/edunews/
A transcript of the first chat session can be found on the same website.
