STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY FOR JUSTICE AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT, REGARDING THE TRANSCRIPTS OF THE TRC's SECTION 29 INVESTIGATIVE HEARING INTO THE HELDERBERG AID DISASTER
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission, has in terms of section 43(2) of Act 34 of 1995, submitted the transcripts of the Commission's hearing into the Helderberg Air Disaster, held on 1 June 1998, to the office of the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Development, Dr Penuell Maduna. The transcripts were hand delivered on 25 May 2000, in the Minister's Cape Town Office. The Minister was abroad and is expected to arrive back this afternoon. He will be given the document immediately. The Ministry will communicate further progress on this matter once the Minister has studied the transcripts.
