The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development would like to announce the arrest of the sheriff of the Superior and Lower courts of Kroonstad, Mr DAC Forbes, for alleged theft and obstructing or defeating the ends of justice.
The arrest happened on 16 May 2000 and it was reported to the Department on 18 May 2000. The Board of Sheriffs is in communication with the Kroonstad Magistrate, the prosecutor who is handling the case and the South African Police Service on this matter and will submit a report to the Department as soon as possible. The Department will then present the board's recommendation to the Minister. The recommendation may include a possible suspension depending on the merits of the case.
