Members of the media are invited to a media briefing at which the Minister of Labour, Membathisi Mdladlana, will address the issue of the draft Code of Good Practice on Key aspects of HIV/AIDS and Employment, which has been released for public comment.
The proposed Code, to be issued jointly in terms of the Employment Equity Act and the Labour Relations Act, is intended to act as a guide to employers, trade unions and employees to reduce and manage the impact of the epidemic. It will seek to promote the elimination of unfair discrimination in the workplace based on HIV status and the creation of a non-discriminatory working environment, and balance of the rights and responsibilities of all parties.
