MINISTER FRASER-MOLEKETI TO REPRESENT SA IN UN EXPERTS MEETING-NEW YORK

Pretoria: Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, will represent South Africa in the 15th meeting of Experts on Public Administration and Finance, convened by the United Nations in New York.

The meeting, which starts on Monday 8-12 May 2000, will focus on "Globalisation and the State" as its main theme. The meeting will specifically focus on how globalisation affects the role and functioning of the State. Areas of deliberations will include globalisation in relation to:

• Economic Governance
  
• Institutional adaptation, and
  
• Managerial Capacity

The results of the meeting will be presented to the UN General Assembly and its Economic and Social Council, by the UN secretary-general Kofi Annan.
