The Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism Mohammed Valli Moosa today announced that two top posts had been filled in the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism.
Dr Patrick Matlotleng Matlou is the new deputy director general of Tourism branch and Horst Kleinschmidt is the deputy director general of Marine and Coastal Management.
Minister Moosa said that these two posts were recently created after a process of re-evaluating the core business of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism.
"When I became Minister the most senior Tourism post filled in the Department was that of a Director Thedirectrate Tourism has since been upgraded to a full branch of the Department with a DDG in line with the seriousness in which we take our work on building the Tourism sector in our country.
"Similarly in MCM, the most senior post was that of chief director in a directorate that employed almost half the staff of the Department and was responsible for a R2,5-billion fishing industry," he said.
