The two masterminds implicated in the 1998 Grade 12 results have finally been sentenced by the Head Of Department as recommended by a duly constituted tribunal, composed of SADTU, NAPTOSA and employer representatives.
In making an application for the dismissal of Gogo Ndlovana and Kate Mokone, the departmental investigating officer (prosecutor) Prof. I.P. Maithufi submitted that they are not fit and proper officials to be in the employ of the public service. Their fate as of now is that their services have been terminated as endorsed.
In another development, MEC Craig Padayachee has commended the SAPS for the swift arrest of another seven officials of the Mpumalanga Department of Education on Wednesday this week on numerous counts of fraud and forgery.
This latest development is a sequel to the arrest of seven departmental officials who are currently on bail on 300 counts of fraud. MEC Padayachee has remarked that this indicates that one of the worst scandals of the last century will finally be resolved and those responsible be made to account.
