PRESIDENT MBEKI’S MESSAGE OF SYMPATHY TO THE JAPANESE PRIME MINSTER

President Thabo Mbeki today expressed sympathy and support to the ailing Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Obuchi.

"The news of Your Excellency’s hospitalisation due to illness has been received with great concern and sadness in South Africa. The Government and the people of the Republic of South Africa join me in wishing Your Excellency, a speedy and complete recovery".

President Mbeki also appealed to the Japanese nation to remain hopeful during this dolorous moment.
