Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will, on 28 February 2000, lead a delegation to New York to attend the United Nations session on the status of Women.
On the 29th February 2000, she will present South Africa's statement on "Women, gender equality, development and peace in the 21st century". Minister Fraser-Moleketi will outline South Africa's achievements and constraints on the implementation of Beijing Platform for Action. She will re-affirm South Africa's commitment to the implementation of Beijing Platform of Action and highlight poverty as one the key challenges facing our country.
Countries that participated in the 1995 Beijing Women's Conference will attend this international session, which starts on 28 February till 18 March 2000.
