President Thabo Mbeki on 31 January expressed profound shock at the news of a Kenyan airliner crash off the Ivory Coast.
"On behalf of the people of South Africa we wish the survivors of the aircrash a speedy recovery and our deepest sympathies go to those who have perished in the accident," President Mbeki said. The President further expressed hope that more survivors would be found and wished authorities success in the search and rescue effort.
President Mbeki also send a message of condolence to his Kenyan counterpart, President Daniel arap Moi.
