The number of contenders vying to supply the vehicles required for the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme which will see the replacement of the 126 000 existing minibus taxi fleet in South Africa, has been reduced from eight to six companies.
Two of the contenders, Malandela Motor Assemblers and QLS Autobus, have been legally disqualified due to the failure to lodge the required proposal guarantees. The announcement was made at the Taxi Recapitalisation Exhibition being held at the Kyalami Conference and Exhibition Centre, at the Kayalami Race Track north of Johannesburg today. The show is open to the public on Thursday and Friday, 27 and 28 January from 09h00 to 17h00.
