OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, DR. N DHLAMINI-ZUMA TO BELGIUM

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dhlamini-Zuma will be visiting Brussels from 19 to 20 January 2000 at the invitation of the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Louise Michel. This will be the Minister Dhlamini—Zuma’s first official visit to Belgium as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Zuma will be holding bilateral discussions with her counterpart, Mr Louise Michel, on 20 January during which a wide range of issues will be discussed, inter alia the state of and prospects for bilateral relations, developments in the Southern African region as well as Multilateral Co-operation.

Minister Dhlamini-Zuma will also meet with the Minister-President of the Flemish Region, Mr Patric Dewael as well as with the Belgian Secretary of State for Development Co-operation, Mr. Eddy Boutmans to discussion the extensive Development Co-operation programmes that run by both the Flemish and Belgian governments in South Africa since 1994. The Belgian and Flemish governments have contributed more than 270 million Rand in development co-operation funds to South Africa since 1994.
