MAURITIUS SAYS NO Y2K INCIDENTS REPORTED IN CRITICAL SECTORS
NYDSC (Dec. 31) -Mauritius, the first SADC country to experience the Y2K rollover, released its first national status report indicating no Y2K related disruptions, at 11h20 South Africa time The country's critical sectors all reported as operating normally. They cover Telecommunications, Finance, Health, Energy, Air Transport, Customs, Government Services and Water.
According to Mauritian government officials: "The rollover from 31st December 1999 to 1st January 2000 has been smooth. The team at the National Computer Board will be monitoring the status until 1700hrs of 1st January 2000 for international as well as local incidents."
