President Mbeki on Sunday expressed shock at the attempted assassination of President Kumaratunga of Sri Lanka. He called upon all the parties and leaders of Sri Lanka to deal with their problems in a peaceful manner and through dialogue.
The President also wished President Kumaratunga a speedy recovery.
Sri Lanka recently requested South Africa to send observers to their upcoming elections.
