The Ministry for Intelligence Services would like to state that the National Intelligence Agency member was involved in the said incident. The members was arrested by the South African Police Service but released later on 16 May 1999.
The victim of the alleged attempted rape withdrew the charges from the SAPS. However, the National Intelligence Agency is initiating disciplinary actions against the member for amongst other things bringing the Agency into disrepute.
The Ministry for Intelligence Services and the National Intelligence Agency are committed to ensuring that member of the Intelligence Services lead by example.
Currently due process is unfolding and the Ministry will await the outcome of this investigation.
