MEC TO ANNOUNCE MULTI-MILLION RAND ALLOCATION TO EMPOWER THE POOR AND ACCELERATE HOUSING DELIVERY

The Gauteng MEC for Housing Mr. Paul Mashatile, will on Thursday, 18 November, 9am, at Gold Reef City announce a multi-million allocation for the People Housing Process at the first ever meeting with business, international experts, community and local authorities aimed at coming up with measures to empower poor communities and accelerating housing delivery.

"This is the first and milestone gathering of its nature in the province and it will enhance the process of accelerating housing delivery in which the poorest section of our communities themselves are involved. We have allocated huge resources and millions of rands to make sure that the Peoples Housing Process works.

The involvement of international role players can only give further impetus and enrich our experiences," said MEC Mashatile.

Participants are expected from about 70 organisations and institutions representing civil society, the communities, local and national government as well as international experts.
