HERITAGE DAY CELEBRATIONS, 24 SEPTEMBER - CHURCH SQUARE AND THE UNION BURLDINGS, Pretoria

Parade participants will gather at the Church Square. The parade itself will begin at 10h30 at Church Square. The parade is as follows: Parade participants gather at Church Square and surrounding streets. They will exit from the Church Square via Paul Kruger Street (Northern exit) into Vermeulen Street. The parade will then proceed through Vermeulen Street until the lower lawns of the Union Buildings.

Media: Journalists and crew members needing transport to the Union Buildings can gather at The New Cafe Riche (next to The Smokers Mecca) at the Church Square at 09h30. 11h45: The parade arrives at the bottom of the Union Buildings lawns.

Media: There will be a three-layer stage with the top layer reserved for dignitaries, including Deputy President J Zuma. An official will be on stand-by to usher journalists and crew members.

CREW MEMBERS: Please make sure that your equipment is ready before the official start of the programme at 12h00.

12h30: Invited guests proceed to the Pretoria Art gallery in Schoeman Street. MEDIA: Journalists and crew members intending to attend the exhibition at the Pretoria Art Gallery should confirm their attendance with the officials whose contact details are furnished at the bottom of this advisory.

13h00: The Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology officially opens the exhibition.

A mini concert is scheduled to start at the lower lawns of the Union Buildings immediately after the invited guests depart for the Pretoria Art Gallery. GENERAL: The rest of the programme is available upon request. Strict measures to control movement may be put in place at short notice.
