AMNESTY APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER

Former Vlakplaas commander Eugene De Kock and sixty four other amnesty applicants and twenty seven other implicated policemen as well as Askaris, are to appear before the Amnesty Committee of the TRC in six different sets of amnesty applications set for next month.

The incidents for which the policemen are applying range from the killing of Vlakplaas Askaris whose loyalties were being questioned as to the abduction and murder of ANC activists in cross-border raids to Swaziland.

Six former policemen have applied for the killing of Brian Ngqulunga in Bophutswana on July 19, 1990. De Kock claims that Ngqulunga had become emotionally unstable, and could present danger for the SAP if he gave certain information to the Harms Commission.

Applicants in this matter are : Eugene De Kock, Simon Radebe, Adriaan Baker, PH Botha, Willie Nortje and Willem Bellingan. Implicated persons include Wouter Mentz who had been heard and granted amnesty, Krappies Engelbrecht, Genreal Nick van Rensburg and Charlie Chate.

Ten former policemen, who include, Izak Bosch, Leon Flores, Wilhem Belligan, Adriaan Baker, Eugene De Kock, Martinus Ras, Douw Gerbrandt Willemse, Petrus Snyders, Johan Tait and Andries van Heerden has applied for the killing of Phemelo Moses Ntheheland (a.k.a. "die Gelejtie/MK Bruce) in the canteen at Vlakplaas during July 1989 and the disposal of the body in the region of Zeerust.

Eight policemen, Andrew Taylor - deceased, Dawid Brits, Eugene De Kock, Willem Nortjie, Hohannes Swart, Lawrence Hanton, Johannes Steyn and Simon Mokopo have applied for the abduction and killing of Goodwill Colleen Sikhakhane (alias MK Neville, Colin Khumalo) on January 29, 1991 in Greytown - KwaZulu Natal.

Seventeen other applicants have applied for murders of Khulumile Portia Shabangu, Thabo Mohale and Derrick Mashobane on February 12, 1989 in Swaziland.

They are Eugene De Kock, Gerrit Erasmus, Leon Flores, Wilhem Bellingan, Larry John Hanton, Petrus Snyders, Douw Willemse, Pieter Botha, Adriaan Baker, Deon Els, Johann Tait, Johannes Snyman, Alfred Oosthuizen, Phineas Moshoaliba, Daniel Snyman, Hendrik du Plessis and Willem Coetzee.

Fourteen other policemen are seeking amnesty for killing Phillip Ndwendamutswa (a.k.a. MK Pantsu Smith), Sipho Dlamini and Busi Majola on December 16, 1986 in Swaziland. Applicants in this matter are: Schalk Visser, Frederick Pienaar, Eugene De Kock, Willem Coetzee, Paul van Dyk, Willem Schoon, Christo Deetleefs, Lodewyk de Jager, Marthinus Wyngaard, Anton Pretorius, Ignatius Coetzee, Johannes van der Merwe, Almond Nofemela and Douw Willemse.

Ten former security policemen have applied for abducting, torture and killing of Hameson Ngoloyi Mngomezulu in June 1985 in Swaziland and Sodwana Bay. Applicants in this matter are: Eugene De Kock, Paul van Dyk, Frederick Pienaar, Gerhardus Beeslaar, Aubrey Mngadi, Gerhardus Schoon, Johannes Koole, Peter Mogoai, Almond Nofomela and Thapelo Mbelo.

The De Kock 4 Cluster will be held at the Idasa Centre in Pretoria, cnr Visagie and Prinsloo Street, from September 6 to October 1, 1999.
