PREMIER SHILOWA ON THE BREAKTHROUGH IN THE KATLEHONG KILLINGS

Gauteng Premier, Mbhazima Shilowa received with great delight the news of the breakthrough by the police in the investigations into the shootings, which left seven people dead and several injured in Katlehong on Monday 19 July 1999.

The police have just reported the arrest of five more suspects who have all been positively linked to the crimes. This is a result of hard work by the police with the assistance of the Katlehong community. This outstanding work by the police and the community deserves great commendation.

The Premier takes this opportunity to congratulate the police and the people of Katlehong for the excellent investigations that led to the arrest of these brutish criminals, who have no respect for human life.

The Premier urges the Katlehong Community and the police to continue with their co-operation and collaboration to ensure that Katlehong is safer and secure for all its citizens.
