The office of President Thabo Mbeki wishes to refer all media queries on Mpumalanga premier Ndaweni Mahlangu to the African National Congress.
Premier Mahlangu was appointed by the president in his capacity as head of the ANC, and the subsequent appointment of MECs in the Mpumalanga cabinet are themselves the functions of discussions within the ANC itself.
It is in that context that any discussion or queries regarding the matter should be referred to the ANC and not the government.
The ANC president's office has already issued a statement on the matter.
However, the President remains committed to honest, transparent and accountable government and to act against anybody tragressing these norms.
