HEALTH MINISTER MEETS MANAGEMENT AND STAFF

Health Minister, Dr Manto Tshabalal-Msimang held her first official meetings with management and staff of the Department of Health, this morning.

In her remarks she applauded her predecessor, Dr Nkosazana Zuma for the good work she had done over the past 5 years.

The Minister promised to build on the solid foundation that had been laid and speed up delivery of quality and accesible health care to the benefit of all South Africans.

She also committed herself to intensifying the struggle against HIV/AIDS, inculcating a human rights culture and entrenching greater sensitivity to gender issues within the department.

Dr Manto Tshabalal-Msimang holds a BA degree from Fort Hare university, Medical degree (MD) from the First Leningrad Medical Institution in the former USSR, a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Dar-Es-Salaam and a Master degree in Public Health from the university of Antwerpen in Belgium
