STATEMENT BY ADV NGOAKO RAMATLHODI, PREMIER OF THE NORTHERN PROVINCE

NEW EXECUTIVE TO LEAD THE NORTHERN PROVINCE INTO THE 21ST CENTURY

I have decided to appoint the following members to the Executive Council of the Northern Province with immediate effect:

• MEC for Finance, Trade and Industry and Tourism: Mr Thaba Mufamadi
  
• MEC for Public Works: Mr Collins Chabane
  
• MEC for Transport: Dean Tshenuwani Farisani
  
• MEC for Agriculture and Environment: Dr Aaron Motsoaledi
  
• MEC for Education: Mr Edgar Mushwana
  
• MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison: Mr Elias Nong
  
• MEC for Sports,Arts and Culture: Dr Joe Phaahla
  
• MEC in the Office of the Premier: Ms Catherine Mabuza
  
• MEC for Local Government and Housing: Mr Joe Maswanganyi
  
• MEC for Health and Welfare: Mr Sello Moloto

I wish to congratulate the new members of the Executive and wish them strength and wisdom to lead the Northern Province into the new Century. I also extend my sincere appreciation to the members who served in the previous administration. Their efforts to establsih new government structures in the Province following the country's first democratic elections in 1994 will always be remembered.
