Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been invited by President Nelson Mandela to pay a State Visit to South Africa from 9-11 November 1999, as is customary, prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The Queen will be opening CHOGM which will be held in Durban from 12 - 15 November 1999. Her Majesty will be accompanied by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
