Deputy President Thabo Mbeki on behalf of the people and government of the Republic of South Africa today conveyed the message of heartfelt congratulations to the Israeli Labour Party leader Ehud Barak on his election as Israeli Premier elected.
The deputy President expressed his confidence that the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians would now move rapidly forward towards a lasting solution consistent with the ideals which the late Israeli Premier Yitzhak Rabin had laid down his life for.
