RAND SHOW HELPED TO BRING GOVERNMENT PROGRAMMES CLOSER

Issued by: Gauteng Provincial Government

The MEC for Housing and Land Affairs, Mr Dan Mofokeng said that the first-ever Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) participation at the Rand Show was not only a huge success but even more importantly it helped bring the government more closer to the communities in a relaxed and interactive way.

"The government stalls were visited by no less than 100 000 people throughout the duration of the Show and that is quite significant. Posters, Leaflets, Newsletters were distributed in a big way thereby educating the people on various programmes and about how government Departments work. We are now more than ever before inundated with calls from people inquiring about houses and the government subsidies. This is testimony that the Show assisted in bringing the government closer to the community and that has to be sustained. In the future, The MEC said.

Business people, the developers, members of the public, school children, etc visited the stalls.

The Departments of Housing and Land Affairs, Public Safety and Security. Transport and Public Works established the first-ever stalls at the Show and no less than R200 000 was utilised for the purpose of exhibitions.

The Gauteng Premier, Dr Mathole Motshega and MEC's Dan Mofokeng, Joyce Kgoali as well as Paul Mashatile visited the Show last week,.

The show ended yesterday and it is estimated that it was visited by no less than half a million people.
