STATEMENT ON THE MEETING BETWEEN THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT AND OPPOSITION PARTIES REGARDING THE GCIS PUBLICATION OF GOVERNMENT ACHIEVEMENTS
The Office of Deputy President Thabo Mbeki is currently making urgent logistical arrangements for the holding of a meeting with parliamentary opposition parties to discuss their concerns regarding the recent GCIS adverts on government achievements.
At the time of his address to parliament on Wednesday 17 March, the Deputy President had indeed not yet been informed by the office of receipt of a letter from opposition parties in parliament requesting a meeting to discuss the matter.
The Office of the Deputy President confirms receipt of this letter of request. Deputy President Thabo Mbeki has, however, agreed to the meeting, as a consequence of his own invitation to and the letter of request from opposition parties.
