INVITATION TO AN ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT

The Premier of the Northern Province, Advocate Ngoako Ramatlhodi will host an Economic Growth and Developments Summit on 26 and 27 February 1999 at Warmbath's Aventura Resort.

The Summit's objectives will be to present to Provincial Government stakeholders, an Economic Growth and Development Strategy of the Province, with a view to provide stakeholders an opportunity to explore opportunities for co-operation and collaboration in implementing the strategy in the benefit of the province the country and the Southern Region, especially given the Province strategic location next to our SADC neighbours.

Invited to the Summit are, Non-governmental organisations, development agencies, foreign embassies, the National Departments of Trade and Industry, Finance and Tourism, provincial government departments, Local Government leaders, economic research bodies and traditional leaders. A total of 200 delegates are expected including private business enterprises, the European Union, SADC, UNDP and the Common Wealth.

Results of a study commissioned to look at the province's development and investment opportunities will be presented to the summit. The government will also outline its contribution towards operationalising various aspects of the economic development strategy in areas such as mining, manufacturing, agriculture and tourism.
