The developments at the National Electricity Regulator (NER) over the past months have necessitated certain steps to be taken by the Ministry and and Department of Minerals and energy (DME). In order to announce some of the latest steps taken, Dr Penuell Maduna, Minister of Minerals and energy, will hold a media conference.

In particular, the Minister will introduce to the public both the new Chairman and the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NER. He will also announce the filling of the post of the post of Deputy Director-General of the Energy Branch in the DME as well as that of General Manager: Finance at NER. He will then comment on the reconstruction and reappointment of other associated institutions of the DME, namely the Boards of Directors for the Council for Geoscience, Mintek, the Atomic Energy Corporation (AEC) and the Council for Nuclear Safety (CNS) as well as the Commission of Enquiry into the South African Diamond Industry.
