GAUTENG EXECUTIVE COUNCIL COMMENTS ON THE HAMMANSKRAAL/VLAKFONTEIN HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS
The Gauteng Cabinet Executive Council (Cabinet) meeting in Johannesburg today received and considered a report on the above mentioned projects from the MEC for Housing and Land Affairs Dan Mofokeng.
Having considered the report, the Cabinet wish to state the following:
1. The legal proceedings with respect to these projects were complied with by the Gauteng Housing Board.
2. The conduct of MEC Mofokeng with regard to these projects is beyond reproach.
3. The amount of R14 million paid to the developers by the Gauteng Housing Board included 12 million allocated for construction of top structures.
4. The monies paid by the Gauteng Provincial Government with respect to these projects are guaranteed by ABSA Bank.
5. All documentation and agreements were certified by the State Law Advisor to protect government interests.
Any member of the public who has information suggesting impropriety on any of the Gauteng Provincial Government's officials with regard to this transaction is advised approach the Attorney General, the Public Protector or the Auditor General.
