The MEC for Public Safety and Security, Gauteng, Mr Paul Mashatile has commended the police for their daring and swift action that foiled an attempted cash-on-transit heist in Midrand yesterday afternoon.
"The members of the SAPS did an excellent job that vindicates the need for stronger intelligence; closer cooperation between the members of the public and the police as well as effective visible policing; if the fight against syndicated crime is to be more effective. Such brave actions on the part of the police will serve to bring back the much - needed public confidence in the police and the criminal justice system." The MEC said.
This follows the police swift action that foiled an attempt by 11 gang members to rob a Coin Security cash delivery in Midrand in which two robbers were shot dead, five wounded and four arrested.
