VISIT BY THE MINISTER FOR PROVINCIAL AFFAIRS AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO THE EASTERN CAPE PROVINCE

The Minister for Provincial Affairs and Constitutional Development, Valli Moosa will undertake a provincial visit to the Eastern Cape Province on Tuesday 11 August 1998. The Minister, accompanied by the Director General and top departmental officials will meet the Premier and the entire Eastern Cape Provincial Cabinet and later on all departmental heads.

The visit is part of the routine visits that the Minister is conducting to all provinces. The purpose of these visits is:

• To jointly do a political assessment of the Province's performance in delivering key programmes of the Government.
• To discuss problems and solutions encountered by the provincial government with a view of concrete follow up work to be done by the Minister in matters relating to other national government departments.
• To discuss any other matters related to Inter Governmental relations.

The Minister has already visited Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, Northern Province and KwaZulu Natal and will complete the visits to the rest of the provinces before the end of October.
