The MEC for Local Government, Housing and Land Adinistration Mr CNM Padayachee has asked the Director-General, Mr Frank Mbatha to suspend the Assistant Director responsible for Transport and Provisioning, Mr Johan P. Van Bosch.
The suspension has been requested to take place with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing for charges ranging from attempted fraud and fraud.
It has been revealed by the Head of Department, Mr Steve Ngwenya that Mr Johan P. Van Bosch prepared a requisition for payment to be made to Professional Services for repairing departmental machinery - e.g. caterpillars, etc. An order for payment was also prepared to the Director-General for approval but before any payment was done it was discovered the caterpillars had not been fixed.
The MEC has ordered the Director of Finance, Mrs Belinda Mojapelo to investigate all payments to Professional Services garage and LHE Motors. It has also been discovered that all departmental vehicles were repaired in those two garages with suspect ownership.
MEC Craig Padayachee has also asked MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport to investigate the role of those two garages in his Department.
