MEDIA STATEMENT BY DR. A M OMAR, MP MINISTER OF JUSTICE ANNOUNCING THE INSTITUTION OF A SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR THE AREA OF THOHOYANDOU
It is announced that a Small Claims Court will be instituted for the area of Thohoyandou. A notice in this regard will appear in the Government Gazette to be published on 31 July 1998.
A local advisory board to advise the Minister on the functioning of the Court, including the appointment of commissioners, has been appointed. The board consists of:
Chairperson: Mr T H Netsifhefhe, an attorney at Thohoyandou Vice-Chairperson: Mr J M Munzhedzi, an attorney at Dzanani Members: Mr G J Ngonyama, a pensioner of Malamulele Ms A M Mamedzi, an administrator of Mutale Mr T R Nthangeni, a technical officer, Telkom of Lwamondo Mr K T J Ramovha, a traditional leader of Thohoyandou
The functioning of the court will commence soon.
The institution of a Small Claims Court for the area concerned is a further step towards the goal of bringing all communities countrywide within the reach of being able to have their small claims settled in an informal, inexpensive and expeditious manner.
